- Munich Re raised its 2026 net profit guidance after a stronger-than-expected preliminary third quarter.
- Final third-quarter figures on November 12 will show whether the preliminary earnings and claims picture holds.
- The outlook remains tied to major-loss developments during the rest of 2026.
Munich Re raised its 2026 net profit guidance after a preliminary third quarter that exceeded analyst expectations. The announcement was released on Friday, October 23, through an EQS Newswire disclosure republished by Placera.
Guidance points higher
Munich Re lifted its full-year 2026 net profit target from EUR 6.3 billion to EUR 6.6 billion after reporting preliminary third-quarter net profit of EUR 1.7 billion. The result exceeded the EUR 1.479 billion consensus compiled from 13 analyst estimates.
The company attributed the quarter to strong operating performance across all business segments, major losses in property and casualty reinsurance that remained below average expectations, and a strong investment result in reinsurance. Net profit for the first nine months reached EUR 5.7 billion, leaving EUR 0.9 billion to reach the revised annual target.
Stock moves since prior report
Munich Re stock traded at EUR 568.30 on Lang & Schwarz at 16:03 CET on Friday, October 30, 2.14 percent above the Xetra close of Thursday, October 29. The Xetra comparison uses the MUV2.DE quote and its previous-session close of EUR 556.40.
The share stood at EUR 556.30 in the previous relevant report at 10:41 CET on Tuesday, October 27. The latest Lang & Schwarz quote is therefore EUR 12.00, or 2.16 percent, higher than that report's comparison point. This separate move since the earlier report is not the same as the Xetra day comparison.
Next test arrives in November
Munich Re has scheduled its final third-quarter results for November 12, 2026. Those figures will provide the next test of the preliminary profit, the investment result and the claims development behind the higher annual outlook.
For investors, the central issue is whether major losses remain manageable through the final quarter. Munich Re also said it intends to strengthen its balance sheet where appropriate, subject to loss developments during the remainder of the year.
