Nokia is advancing its AI-RAN partnership with NVIDIA toward live-network deployment, adding artificial intelligence to radio processing and network operations. The company announced the latest development on October 21, 2026, in a Nokia press release.

Nokia said its AI-native anyRAN software is running on NVIDIA Aerial RAN Computer. The combined platform is designed to apply AI to channel estimation, beamforming, multi-user MIMO pairing and scheduling, with the aim of improving network capacity and performance while supporting a transition toward AI-native 6G.

Operator Tests Set Deployment Path

Customer activity is providing the next test for the technology. Elisa has run voice, mobile data and video analytics simultaneously on an AI-RAN platform in its 5G network, while BT is preparing a live-network trial in Birmingham. Deutsche Telekom and Nokia are developing AI-based channel estimation, and Orange plans to continue testing in laboratory and live-network conditions.

Nokia said distributed deployment and commercial AI-RAN service evaluations are expected in 2027. Initial laboratory measurements for the channel-estimation work showed uplink throughput improvements of 10% to 15%, although the company described this as one part of a broader AI-RAN opportunity rather than a complete measure of commercial performance.

AI Agents Expand Nokia Platform

The partnership also extends beyond radio access. Nokia and NVIDIA are integrating NVIDIA AI Enterprise software and Nemotron models and libraries into Nokia's agentic platform for telecommunications. Operators could use the system across radio, core, transport and cloud networks, with Nokia providing operational context, governance and controls for the deployment of AI agents.

For investors, the announcement strengthens Nokia's positioning in the infrastructure layer supporting rising AI-related network demand. The commercial opportunity remains tied to operator trials, deployment timing and the ability to convert technical gains into customer contracts and recurring network software revenue.
