NXP Semiconductors (ISIN NL0009538784) reported third-quarter revenue of USD 3.79 billion, up 19.00 percent year over year, while authorizing a new USD 5.00 billion share repurchase program. The results and capital-return decision were published by NXP Semiconductors on October 27, 2026.
Revenue growth broadens
The quarter ended September 27, 2026, produced USD 3.79 billion in revenue, compared with USD 3.17 billion in the third quarter of 2025. That 19.00 percent increase also marked an 8.00 percent rise from the second quarter's USD 3.50 billion.
Automotive revenue rose 13.00 percent year over year to USD 2.07 billion, while Industrial and IoT revenue increased 39.00 percent to USD 802.00 million. Communications infrastructure and other revenue grew 54.00 percent to USD 503.00 million, giving the quarterly expansion a broader base than the automotive business alone.
What does the buyback change?
The board authorized USD 5.00 billion in additional repurchases after the quarter ended, alongside USD 1.30 billion remaining under the prior authorization. NXP also repurchased USD 103.00 million of shares during the quarter and paid USD 256.00 million in dividends.
Profitability improved at the same time. GAAP operating margin reached 32.40 percent, up from 28.10 percent a year earlier, while non-GAAP operating margin rose to 37.10 percent from 33.80 percent. Operating cash flow was USD 1.26 billion, and non-GAAP free cash flow reached USD 1.21 billion, or 31.90 percent of revenue.
Fourth-quarter range sets the test
NXP guided for fourth-quarter revenue of USD 3.75 billion to USD 3.95 billion, with a midpoint of USD 3.85 billion. The midpoint implies a 2.00 percent sequential increase from the third quarter and a 15.00 percent year-over-year increase.
The company also guided to a non-GAAP diluted earnings-per-share range of USD 4.14 to USD 4.58. The combination of higher quarterly revenue, stronger margins and a large repurchase authorization gives the latest report a different profile from the earlier analyst discussion centered on Bernstein's USD 290.00 target.
