OCBC launched Alipay+ Travel Treat on October 28, 2026, giving customers access to more than 200 merchant deals across seven destinations. The Singapore bank said the in-app service is the first of its kind among Singapore banks for overseas QR payment rewards. The details are set out in the OCBC announcement published on October 28.

Payments move into travel rewards

Alipay+ Travel Treat lets customers discover, claim and redeem dining, shopping and travel offers directly through the OCBC app. Customers can claim vouchers before travelling, with eligible rewards applied when they pay participating merchants through Alipay+ QR transactions.

The initial offer covers mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand. Participating names include Shake Shack, Matsuya Food, The Shilla Duty-Free and 7-Eleven, while Kuala Lumpur's Suria KLCC and TRX Mall are also included.

The launch extends OCBC's relationship with Ant International beyond cross-border payments. OCBC has worked with Alipay+ on overseas payments since 2023, and the new travel hub places payments, discounts and voucher redemption inside the same banking application.

Usage growth supports the rollout

OCBC said that during the first eight months of 2026, both the number of customers using its app to scan and pay Alipay+ merchants overseas and the value of those transactions more than doubled from the same period in 2025. Spending growth was led primarily by travel to mainland China, Japan and South Korea.

Through the OCBC app, customers can make payments from their Singapore bank accounts at participating merchants in more than 55 destinations worldwide. The bank also said the Alipay+ platform could support additional travel services in the future, including ride-hailing and food delivery.

For investors, the rollout adds a digital engagement feature in an area where OCBC is already reporting higher payment activity. The next relevant question is whether broader app usage and travel-related services translate into sustained transaction growth and stronger customer relationships.
