- Third-quarter net profit rose 3% year on year to S$2.04 billion and edged above the S$2.01 billion analyst estimate cited by Reuters.
- Nine-month net profit climbed 10% to a record S$6.24 billion, led by wealth management and wholesale banking.
- OCBC lifted its 2026 loan-growth outlook to the low double digits while expecting at least mid-single-digit total-income growth.
Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter earnings on Friday, November 6, 2026, as the Singapore lender's core banking operations offset weaker investment performance at insurance arm Great Eastern Holdings. OCBC said group net profit for the period ended September 30 rose 3% year on year to S$2.04 billion, compared with the S$2.01 billion mean estimate cited by Reuters from LSEG data.
OCBC said Banking Operations profit rose 16% year on year to a record S$1.90 billion. Net interest income increased 4% to S$2.31 billion, supported by loan growth and higher yields, although an 18-basis-point contraction in net interest margin reflected a lower-rate environment and faster repricing of some funding.
Customer-driven activity remained a bright spot. Net fee income rose 8% year on year to S$735 million, while customer-flow trading income reached a record S$480 million. OCBC said wealth-management fees, loan and trade-related activity and investment-banking fees all contributed to the fee expansion.
The insurance contribution was less supportive. Trading income fell 10% year on year and insurance income declined 37%, mainly because of weaker investment performance at Great Eastern. OCBC said mark-to-market losses on Great Eastern's bond portfolio and the absence of large equity gains recorded in the second quarter weighed on the comparison.
For the first nine months, group net profit rose 10% to a record S$6.24 billion. Total income reached a new high, while non-interest income increased 19% to S$4.93 billion and accounted for 42% of total income. Wealth-management fees climbed 25% to S$1.33 billion, and customer loans grew 14% year on year to S$372 billion. The non-performing-loan ratio improved to 0.8%.
Guidance shifts toward loan growth
Following the results, OCBC raised its 2026 loan-growth forecast to the low double digits from a previous high-single-digit to low-double-digit range. The bank expects total income to grow by at least a mid-single-digit percentage, while net interest income is expected to remain flat or decline slightly. It also lowered its expected credit-cost range to 15 to 20 basis points from 25 to 30 basis points, according to Reuters.
