OMV stock is in focus after a sharp rise in third-quarter clean CCS earnings. Management raised key 2026 price and refining assumptions, while Chemicals lagged.

Strong quarter, upgraded outlook

  • Energy and Fuels drove OMV's third-quarter performance, while Chemicals contributed less than a year earlier.
  • Higher oil, gas and refining assumptions lifted the company's 2026 outlook.
  • Organic capital spending is now planned at 3.5 billion EUR, with Neptun Deep among the investment priorities.

OMV reported a strong third quarter on October 29, 2026, as higher oil and gas prices and exceptionally strong refining margins lifted results in its Energy and Fuels businesses. In its third-quarter results release, OMV said clean CCS Operating Result rose 68 percent year over year to 2,117 million EUR. Clean CCS net income attributable to parent-company shareholders reached 1,153 million EUR, while clean CCS earnings per share increased to 3.54 EUR.

Energy delivered a clean Operating Result of 936 million EUR, up 51 percent from the prior-year quarter. OMV attributed the increase mainly to positive market effects of 515 million EUR from higher realized oil and gas prices. Hydrocarbon production was 294 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, down from 304 thousand a year earlier, while logistical constraints in the Middle East reduced sales volumes.

Fuels leads segment performance

Fuels generated a clean CCS Operating Result of 1,124 million EUR, compared with 413 million EUR in the third quarter of 2025. The gain reflected higher European and Middle Eastern refining margins, strong refinery utilization and a more favorable product mix. OMV's European refining indicator margin more than tripled to 37.50 USD per barrel, while European refinery utilization reached 92 percent.

The improvement in refining more than offset weaker retail contributions after international oil-product quotations rose sharply following the Iran conflict. OMV also cited tight refined-product supply linked to the conflict in the Middle East, the partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz and renewed attacks on Russian refining infrastructure.

Chemicals remained the weak spot. Its clean Operating Result fell to 63 million EUR from 222 million EUR in the prior-year quarter, despite higher olefin indicator margins and a three-percentage-point increase in OMV's steam-cracker utilization rate to 82 percent. The company said Borouge International was affected by a broad correction in global olefin and polyolefin prices after the market shortages seen in the second quarter.

Higher assumptions, higher investment

OMV raised several 2026 assumptions. The company now expects average Brent prices above 95 USD per barrel, compared with its previous range of 85 to 95 USD, and an average realized gas price of about 45 EUR per megawatt-hour rather than about 40 EUR. The forecast for the Trading Hub Europe gas price was lifted to above 55 EUR per megawatt-hour.

OMV also increased its European refining-margin assumption to about 25 USD per barrel from about 20 USD and expects European refinery utilization to exceed 90 percent. Full-year hydrocarbon production is projected at about 290 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, at the upper end of the previous range. Organic capital expenditure is now expected to reach about 3.5 billion EUR, up from 3.4 billion EUR, partly reflecting faster execution at the Neptun Deep project.

The real-time quote of OMV stock stood at EUR 71.43 on Lang & Schwarz at 11:47 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026, 1.13 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, November 5, at EUR 72.25.

For investors, the quarter reinforces OMV's sensitivity to commodity prices and refining spreads. The upgraded assumptions support earnings visibility if market conditions hold, but the weaker Chemicals result, geopolitical exposure and higher capital spending remain important counterweights. The next focus is execution at Neptun Deep and the sustainability of refining margins beyond the exceptionally strong third quarter.

The DAX remains the relevant broader-market reference for investors tracking OMV stock.
