OMV stock followed a strong third quarter driven by Energy and Fuels. Management lifted several 2026 market and investment assumptions.

Quarterly strength meets higher outlook

  • Fuels and Energy drove OMV's sharp third-quarter earnings increase, while Chemicals weakened.
  • Management raised its 2026 assumptions for Brent, gas prices, refining margins and organic capital spending.
  • Neptun Deep investment and geopolitical risks remain important factors for future operating performance.

OMV reported a sharply stronger third quarter on October 29, with Energy and Fuels offsetting weaker Chemicals performance. The Vienna-based group's clean CCS Operating Result rose 68% year on year to EUR 2,117 million, according to the OMV press release. Clean CCS net income attributable to parent-company shareholders almost doubled to EUR 1,153 million, while clean CCS earnings per share increased 95% to EUR 3.54.

Energy and Fuels lead rebound

Energy's clean Operating Result advanced 51% to EUR 936 million. Higher realized oil and gas prices generated positive market effects that more than offset lower sales volumes caused mainly by missing liftings in the Middle East. Hydrocarbon production declined 3% to 294,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, while sales volumes fell 26% to 225,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Fuels delivered the largest improvement. Its clean CCS Operating Result jumped 172% to EUR 1,124 million as stronger refining margins, high utilization and a better product mix outweighed lower retail contributions. OMV's European refining indicator margin more than tripled to USD 37.50 per barrel from USD 11.50 a year earlier, and European refinery utilization reached 92%.

Chemicals moved in the opposite direction. Its clean Operating Result dropped 72% to EUR 63 million from EUR 222 million in the prior-year quarter. OMV said lower benchmark prices and a less favorable market environment for Borouge International weighed on the segment, although steam-cracker utilization improved to 82%.

Management raises 2026 assumptions

OMV lifted several full-year assumptions after the strong quarter. The company now expects average Brent prices above USD 95 per barrel, compared with a previous range of USD 85 to USD 95, and sees its average realized gas price at around EUR 45 per megawatt-hour, up from roughly EUR 40. The forecast for the European refining indicator margin rose to around USD 25 per barrel from USD 20.

Organic capital spending is now expected at around EUR 3.5 billion, versus a previous forecast of EUR 3.4 billion. Hydrocarbon production is projected at around 290,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, while European refinery utilization is expected to remain above 90%. The higher investment outlook includes faster execution at the Neptun Deep gas project.

Stock remains below prior close

OMV stock traded at EUR 71.88 on Lang & Schwarz at 12:36 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026, 0.10% below the Xetra close of Wednesday, November 4. Investors can follow the real-time quote of OMV stock.

Operating cash flow rose 101% to EUR 2,199 million, and cash flow excluding net working capital effects increased 57% to EUR 2,334 million. The figures strengthen the cash-flow profile, but commodity prices, regional conflicts, lifting schedules and the weaker Chemicals environment remain material swing factors for the share.

European investors continue to assess energy prices, refining margins and geopolitical developments through the ATX market environment.
