OMV reported a stronger third quarter on Thursday, October 29, 2026, with higher energy prices and refining margins lifting earnings across its integrated energy business. In its third-quarter results release, OMV said its clean CCS Operating Result increased 68 percent year over year to 2,117 million euros. Clean CCS net income attributable to stockholders of the parent reached 1,153 million euros, up 94 percent, while clean CCS earnings per share rose 95 percent to 3.54 euros.

Sales revenues from continuing operations increased 43 percent to 8,959 million euros. Operating cash flow more than doubled to 2,199 million euros, and cash flow excluding net working capital effects rose 57 percent to 2,334 million euros. OMV said the stronger cash generation also reflected the first Borouge International dividend, while the balance sheet ended the quarter with net debt of 4,403 million euros and a leverage ratio of 17 percent.

Energy and fuels lead earnings growth

The Energy segment's clean Operating Result rose 51 percent to 936 million euros. Higher realized oil and gas prices more than offset lower sales volumes, which OMV linked to logistical constraints and the lack of liftings in the Middle East. Hydrocarbon production was 294 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, down 3 percent from the prior-year quarter.

Fuels delivered the largest improvement. Its clean CCS Operating Result climbed 172 percent to 1,124 million euros as European and Middle Eastern refining margins, utilization rates and the product mix strengthened. OMV's European refining indicator margin more than tripled to 37.50 US dollars per barrel, while European refinery utilization reached 92 percent. Retail contributions were lower because fuel margins weakened after the rise in international oil product quotations.

Chemicals provided a counterweight, with its clean Operating Result falling 72 percent to 63 million euros. OMV cited lower market prices and a weaker contribution from Borouge International, although base chemicals benefited from stronger olefin margins and steam cracker utilization improved to 82 percent.

Outlook points to stronger assumptions

OMV now expects 2026 organic capital expenditure of around 3.5 billion euros, compared with its previous forecast of around 3.4 billion euros. The company raised its assumptions for the average Brent price, realized gas price and European refining margin, while forecasting hydrocarbon production of around 290 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day and European refinery utilization above 90 percent. Management said the group would continue disciplined project execution amid geopolitical challenges.
