Oracle Corp (ISIN US68389X1054) is widening its AI infrastructure offer with Google Tensor Processing Units and Cerebras inference planned for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in calendar year 2027. The announcements add a broader compute-choice story to the funding and execution questions already facing Oracle ahead of its financial analyst meeting.
More choices for AI workloads
According to an October 27, 2026 release from Oracle, OCI will be the first hyperscale cloud platform outside Google to offer Google TPUs. Oracle said the eighth-generation TPU 8t can deliver nearly 3 times the compute performance per pod of the previous generation, while availability on OCI is planned to ramp over multiple years.
The move gives customers another architecture for training and inference rather than limiting OCI demand to one accelerator family. That matters commercially because Oracle can present performance, power use and cost as selectable features for different AI workloads, although the release provides no revenue figure for the planned TPU service.
Inference adds a second option
In a separate October 27, 2026 announcement, Oracle and Cerebras said fast inference is planned for OCI in calendar year 2027. Cerebras uses a wafer-scale processor that combines compute and memory on one wafer, a design aimed at reducing data movement and speeding multi-step agentic workflows.
The announcements therefore broaden OCI on two fronts: Google adds a training and inference architecture, while Cerebras targets rapid inference. The commercial test is still delivery. Both services are planned rather than generally available.
