- ORLEN anticipates PLN 1.6 billion of non-cash impairment charges in its third-quarter accounts.
- Upstream and gas volumes weakened year over year, while electricity generation and retail electricity sales increased.
- The November 5 report will show the final accounting treatment and updated operating figures.
ORLEN's third-quarter update combines a material accounting charge with mixed operating trends ahead of the group's results on Thursday, November 5, 2026. In a regulatory announcement published by Parkiet, the company said on October 22 that it expects impairment charges in its consolidated third-quarter 2026 accounts.
Impairments shape the results
ORLEN anticipates PLN 1.6 billion of impairment charges. The gross items include PLN 1.6 billion in Downstream, mainly linked to spending on the New Chemistry project, and PLN 0.8 billion in Energy. The group also expects to reverse PLN 0.8 billion of earlier impairments in Upstream & Supply.
The charges are non-cash and do not directly affect operating cash flow for the current reporting period. They can nevertheless reduce reported earnings and asset values, leaving the statutory auditor's review and the final consolidated accounts as important checkpoints for investors.
Operating trends remain mixed
Third-quarter crude oil, condensate and natural gas liquids production fell to 4,285 thousand barrels of oil equivalent from 4,633 thousand a year earlier. Natural gas production declined to 21.6 terawatt-hours from 23.3 terawatt-hours, while gas imports into Poland dropped to 39.4 terawatt-hours from 54.0 terawatt-hours.
Other indicators were more resilient. Electricity generation rose to 4.0 terawatt-hours from 3.7 terawatt-hours, and retail electricity sales increased to 4.1 terawatt-hours from 3.7 terawatt-hours. Crude processing reached 10,083 thousand tonnes, 1 percent below the year-earlier level, while refinery utilization matched the prior-year quarter at 94 percent.
