OTP Bank Ukraine is preparing digital solutions based on agrarian notes, adding a new technology angle to the group’s agricultural-finance business. The Ukrainian subsidiary disclosed the initiative on October 16, 2026, in a release published by OTP Bank Ukraine.
The bank said it had financed 1,400 agrarian receipts worth UAH 11.6 billion since starting work with the instrument in 2017. OTP Bank Ukraine also said it represented about 77 percent of Ukraine’s banking-financing segment and about 14.5 percent of the total market.
From receipts to electronic securities
Agrarian notes are legally and operationally different from agrarian receipts. They are non-issue securities that exist in electronic form and are recorded in Ukraine’s depository system. The bank said it had already participated in agrarian-note transactions and was finalizing internal procedures for new solutions.
The planned instrument is intended to make agricultural financing faster and more accessible. OTP Bank Ukraine highlighted online issuance without a notary, while the electronic structure could support circulation, refinancing and supply-chain finance involving input suppliers, traders, processors and retailers.
Ivan Yerko, head of OTP Bank’s Agro Factory department, said the bank was working to give agricultural producers faster access to financing, including through the OTP Agroportal. Olha Volkova, director of sales for medium and small corporate clients, pointed to reduced physical travel and a broader range of potential applications than traditional agrarian receipts.
Execution is the next investor test
The initiative is not a new earnings target. For investors, the next milestones are the completion of the bank’s internal procedures, pilot transactions and evidence that the product can scale beyond the established agrarian-receipts business. The wider Ukrainian market has issued about 12,600 agrarian receipts worth more than UAH 79.7 billion, according to the bank’s release.
