- PACCAR increased third-quarter revenue by 19 percent and net income by 44 percent year over year.
- Management expects North American Class 8 demand to remain firm in 2027.
- Suppliers constrained third-quarter production, but fourth-quarter truck deliveries are forecast to rise.
PACCAR stock entered the weekend with investors weighing strong third-quarter profitability against supply constraints that limited truck production. The company released its results on Tuesday, October 27, while Transport Topics detailed the production bottleneck the following day.
PACCAR generated 7.94 billion US dollars in third-quarter revenue, up 19 percent from the prior-year period. Net income rose 44 percent to 847.5 million US dollars, or 1.61 US dollars per diluted share. The figures came as higher truck segment margins and strong overall performance supported earnings.
Truck demand supports 2027 outlook
Global truck deliveries reached 40,100 units in the quarter, according to the company's investor release. PACCAR said customers in North America were beginning to refresh fleets with newer, more fuel-efficient trucks. It expects the US and Canadian Class 8 market to reach 240,000 to 260,000 vehicles in 2026 and 240,000 to 280,000 in 2027.
Parts added resilience, with record third-quarter revenue of 1.78 billion US dollars. PACCAR Parts pretax income was 404.4 million US dollars, while Financial Services contributed 138.1 million US dollars in pretax income.
Supply chain remains a near-term risk
Transport Topics said suppliers had struggled to increase output as quickly as demand, leaving deliveries below PACCAR's earlier expectation of about 42,000 trucks. Management expects fourth-quarter deliveries of 41,000 to 43,000 units as supplier performance improves.
The outlook leaves PACCAR exposed to execution risk even as freight-market conditions improve. Investors will also track whether the expected demand recovery translates into sustained production growth and margin stability.
