Panasonic Holdings expanded its long-term AI infrastructure ambitions after a stronger July-September quarter and continued battery demand. The company raised its fiscal 2029 sales target for AI-related businesses, giving investors a clearer view of where management expects the next phase of growth to come from.

Higher targets for AI infrastructure

An Investing.com report published October 30 said Panasonic lifted its fiscal 2029 Industry sales target to JPY 600 billion from JPY 430 billion. The target covers businesses including copper-clad laminates and capacitors used in AI infrastructure.

The Energy target for fiscal 2029 rose to JPY 1 trillion from JPY 950 billion. The segment includes battery backup units and related products, extending the AI investment story beyond semiconductor materials into power and storage systems.

Quarterly profit beats expectations

Panasonic reported adjusted operating profit of JPY 213.2 billion for the July-September quarter, 2.4 times the prior-year level and above the JPY 160 billion analyst expectation cited by Investing.com. The company said all major business segments performed better than expected.

The report also said Panasonic increased its full-year adjusted operating profit guidance to JPY 780 billion from JPY 650 billion. Price revisions and rationalization were expected to contribute JPY 71 billion, while higher sales were seen adding JPY 40 billion. Raw material and logistics costs were expected to reduce the increase by JPY 57 billion.

Battery demand supports the outlook

Panasonic's Energy business benefits from demand for electric-vehicle batteries and data center energy storage. That combination gives the group two linked growth avenues: supplying power for AI infrastructure and expanding battery capacity for strategic customers.

Panasonic stock traded at 17.54 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 15:10 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026.
