Petrobras (ISIN US71654V4086) was trading at EUR 20.25 at Lang & Schwarz on October 28, 2026 at 12:02 p.m. CET. The company reported a 23.80 percent reduction in the carbon intensity of sustainable aviation fuel after its Duque de Caxias refinery obtained international recertification.
According to a Petrobras release published October 26, 2026, the Reduc refinery in Rio de Janeiro received ISCC CORSIA recertification in the first half of October. The certification covers SAF produced from corn oil and recognizes changes in the management of hydrogen sources used in production.
Hydrogen accounting changes the result
The company said the updated certification now includes hydrogen from catalytic naphtha reforming, which has a lower carbon intensity in the production process. Petrobras reported that the carbon intensity of the hydrogen used at the refinery fell by 29.00 percent.
That change reduced the measured carbon intensity of the corn-oil-based SAF by 23.80 percent. The result is a process improvement rather than a disclosed change in the physical volume of fuel produced, so the key investor signal is the certification of a lower reported emissions profile.
What comes next for the business
Petrobras said the certified SAF is positioned among the sustainable aviation fuels with the lowest carbon intensity available in the market. The company linked the product to international aviation emissions goals whose mandatory phase begins in 2027 and to Brazil's Fuel of the Future law.
Petrobras is also seeking certification for coprocessed SAF at its Henrique Lage refinery. Production has been implemented at Gabriel Passos, while implementation at Paulinia is in its final phase, according to the company release.
Stock and certification in context
The 23.80 percent emissions-intensity reduction gives Petrobras a measurable renewable-fuels development alongside its core oil and gas operations. It does not provide a new earnings forecast, but it adds a quantified operating milestone to the company's energy-transition program.
