- PGE plans a major shift toward renewable power, grid infrastructure, storage and lower-emission generation.
- The potential dividend restart remains subject to funding needs, financial strength and the group's leverage limits.
- Execution of the investment program will determine whether the strategy can deliver its targeted earnings growth.
PGE is entering a capital-intensive strategy phase built around renewable energy, grid infrastructure, storage and lower-emission generation. The Polish utility plans to invest PLN 210 billion between 2025 and 2035, while targeting cumulative EBITDA of PLN 209 billion over the same period, according to the Polish Press Agency.
PGE stock traded at 3.67 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:06:40 CET on Thursday, November 5, 2026. Investors can follow the real-time quote of PGE stock.
Capital shifts toward transition assets
The investment plan assigns PLN 80 billion to renewable energy and storage, PLN 70 billion to networks and infrastructure, and PLN 48 billion to stable lower-emission capacity. That category includes gas-fired generation, district heating and nuclear-related activities. Coal receives PLN 5 billion mainly for maintenance, underscoring the intended reduction in its strategic role.
The strategy targets 11 gigawatts of new renewable capacity connected to PGE's grid by 2035. It also calls for 9.6 gigawatts of flexible gas-fired generation, 18 gigawatt-hours of energy storage and 28 terawatt-hours of electricity generation from renewable installations and projects developed by the group, regardless of partners' ownership stakes.
Dividend plans remain conditional
PGE intends to resume dividend payments from earnings for 2026, with a yield ceiling of 5 percent. The ceiling is not a guaranteed payout: the company links distributions to its current and projected financial position, the funding requirements of its investment program and the need to preserve an investment-grade credit rating. Net debt is capped at 2.8 times EBITDA under the strategy.
The plan also targets PLN 19 billion of cumulative efficiency benefits through 2035. Management aims to use those savings to support the group's earnings trajectory while financing a broad transition program that includes renewable generation, data-centre services, nuclear-related work and small modular reactor initiatives.
What it means for investors
The strategy offers a clearer long-term growth framework, but it also increases the importance of capital discipline. The key question is whether PGE can expand lower-carbon assets and networks without weakening cash generation or delaying the potential dividend return. The November earnings update will be the next scheduled checkpoint for profitability, financing capacity and execution.
