PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna signed a PLN 3.886 billion term loan on Thursday, November 5, 2026, for its gas-and-steam power project in Rybnik. AD HOC NEWS reported the agreement based on information from PAP as published by nettg.pl.

The loan was arranged by PKO BP, BGK, Erste Bank Polska and Bank Pekao. Poland's export credit insurer KUKE guarantees the financing, which is intended to fund or refinance investment spending for the combined-cycle gas turbine block.

Rybnik moves toward commissioning

The Rybnik unit has an electrical capacity of 882 megawatts. PGE said final installation and construction work is under way, while individual systems are being transferred progressively for commissioning. Chemical cleaning of boiler systems and steam pipelines is also being prepared.

The company expects the gas turbine to fire for the first time and the unit to synchronize with Poland's national power system around the turn of 2026 and 2027. The schedule creates a near-term execution milestone for a project designed to add more flexible and lower-carbon generation.

Funding adds an investor test

PGE Chief Executive Dariusz Lubera has described gas generation as a key pillar of the updated strategy. The company is developing or preparing gas projects with combined capacity above 5 gigawatts and aims to reach about 8 gigawatts of gas capacity by 2035, or 9.6 gigawatts including gas units in district heating.

PGE stock traded at 3.58 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:02 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. The quote was 2.45 percent below the 3.67 euros reported in the previous relevant article at 12:06:40 CET on Thursday, November 5.

Investors can follow the real-time quote of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna stock. The financing strengthens visibility on the Rybnik build-out but also highlights the capital commitments and borrowing required for PGE's transition.
