- VEEV shipments accelerated strongly in the third quarter.
- PMI expanded its authorized ZYN portfolio in the United States.
- Higher investment remains a constraint on near-term operating income.
Philip Morris International added product-level detail to its third-quarter smoke-free growth story in its October 21, 2026 results release. The new detail is relevant for investors because it shows where portfolio expansion is occurring beyond the headline revenue figures.
Product momentum broadens the story
VEEV shipments rose 61.6 percent in the third quarter, according to PMI. The company said the e-vapor brand strengthened its position in Europe and produced encouraging results in markets including Indonesia, Egypt, Malaysia and South Korea after an August launch.
PMI also reported that ZYN is now authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for 31 variants in total. Eleven ZYN ULTRA variants received PMTA authorization on August 21, while 20 flagship variants had received modified-risk authorization on June 30, the company said.
Growth still requires investment
The broader third-quarter figures remain a mix of expansion and cost pressure. PMI reported net revenue of USD 11.438 billion, up 5.5 percent year over year, while adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 5.4 percent to USD 2.36. Smoke-free products generated more than 40 percent of quarterly net revenue and were available in 110 markets.
Management nevertheless expects full-year organic operating-income growth to land in the middle or lower half of its 7 percent to 9 percent range. The company pointed to higher U.S. growth investment and geopolitical cost pressure, while maintaining adjusted diluted earnings guidance of USD 8.29 to USD 8.44 per share.
