- Third-quarter comparable order intake rose 8 percent, led by Diagnosis & Treatment.
- Management reiterated its 2026 sales, margin and free-cash-flow targets.
- A Respironics provision remains a major drag on reported earnings and is expected to be paid in the first quarter of 2027.
Philips enters the next quarter with stronger order momentum and a wider adjusted margin, while legal costs continue to weigh on reported earnings. The company reported its third-quarter results on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and reiterated its full-year targets in a Philips press release.
Philips stock traded at EUR 27.24 on Lang & Schwarz at 17:13 CET on Friday, November 6, 2026. That was 6.95 percent above the EUR 25.47 quote in the company's November 4 premarket report, a separate comparison from the daily Xetra close.
Orders improve as margins expand
Comparable order intake increased 8 percent in the third quarter, driven by Diagnosis & Treatment. Comparable sales rose 3 percent, while group sales reached EUR 4.4 billion.
The adjusted EBITA margin expanded 70 basis points to 13.0 percent. Philips attributed the improvement to higher sales, stronger gross margin and productivity measures, which more than offset cost inflation. The margin improvement was reported across all three business segments.
Respironics remains a key risk
Philips Respironics reached an agreement in principle with the US Department of Justice over previously disclosed criminal and civil investigations linked to the device recall. Philips recorded a EUR 288 million provision in the third quarter, with payment expected in the first quarter of 2027 once the relevant documentation is finalized.
Reuters reported that adjusted EBITA rose 7.2 percent to EUR 569 million, beating the EUR 522 million consensus in a Philips-provided analyst poll, while comparable sales were slightly below the EUR 4.41 billion estimate at EUR 4.39 billion. Other Respironics-related proceedings remain outside the current outlook.
2026 targets remain unchanged
Philips continues to target comparable sales growth of 3 to 4.5 percent, an adjusted EBITA margin of 13.5 to 14.0 percent and free cash flow of EUR 1.5 to 1.7 billion. The margin target includes an expected US tariff-refund benefit of approximately 1 percentage point, while the cash-flow target includes a net benefit of approximately EUR 200 million.
