Porsche AG reported a sharp rebound in operating profit for the first nine months of 2026, while revenue and vehicle deliveries declined. In its October 27 release, Porsche Newsroom said the sports-car maker was continuing its value-over-volume strategy and had reaffirmed its full-year forecast.

Higher profit despite lower volumes

Group sales revenue fell 5.9 percent year over year to 25.28 billion euros in the January-to-September period, from 26.86 billion euros. Deliveries dropped 16.0 percent to 178,532 vehicles from 212,509. Operating profit nevertheless climbed to 1.74 billion euros from 40 million euros, lifting the operating return on sales to 6.9 percent from 0.2 percent.

Porsche attributed the improvement to positive pricing and product-mix effects, including a higher share of high-margin models. The comparison also benefited from lower costs linked to the strategic realignment: those charges amounted to about 500 million euros in the first nine months of 2026, compared with 2.7 billion euros a year earlier. Automotive EBITDA margin rose to 17.3 percent from 11.9 percent.

The figures show a more profitable business mix, but not a return to volume growth. Porsche said North America remained its largest sales region with 56,088 deliveries, while conditions in China continued to challenge the brand. Battery-electric vehicles accounted for 21.7 percent of deliveries, down from 23.1 percent a year earlier, when the electric Macan was ramping up.

Cash flow gains include one-off effects

Automotive net cash flow increased to 2.50 billion euros from 1.34 billion euros, and the margin reached 11.3 percent versus 5.6 percent. The improvement was mainly supported by cash inflows from the completed sale of Porsche's stakes in Bugatti Rimac and the Rimac Group. The transaction generated a gain of 593 million euros and total cash inflow of 984 million euros, most of which was included in Automotive net cash flow.

Porsche also reported one-off effects that reduced cash flow during the third quarter. These included 100 million to 200 million euros related to the strategic realignment, 250 million euros for additional pension funding and 200 million euros in US tariff charges. Automotive net liquidity rose by 884 million euros from the end of 2025 to 8.23 billion euros at September 30.

Guidance remains unchanged

Management confirmed its 2026 targets despite a challenging economic environment and geopolitical uncertainty. The forecast calls for group revenue of 35 billion to 36 billion euros, an operating return on sales of 5.5 percent to 7.5 percent, an Automotive EBITDA margin of 15 percent to 17 percent and a battery-electric share of 24 percent to 26 percent. The Automotive net cash flow margin is also expected at 5.5 percent to 7.5 percent.

The strategic realignment includes the planned sale of the wholly owned management and IT consultancy MHP to Tata Consultancy Services. Porsche and TCS intend to cooperate on digital solutions and artificial intelligence, while closing remains subject to conditions and is expected within the next 12 months. For investors, the combination of stronger margins and lower volumes makes execution, product demand and the treatment of restructuring costs central to the next outlook updates.
