Prosus stock enters key week for shareholder distribution

Prosus has entered the final week before exchange-specific deadlines for its shareholder distribution for the year ended March 31, 2026. In its October 29 announcement, the technology investment group confirmed a gross capital repayment of EUR 0.28 per ordinary N share, with payment scheduled for Thursday, December 3.

The Prosus announcement sets Thursday, November 5, as the final JSE trading date for N shareholders seeking to participate. On Euronext Amsterdam, Friday, November 6, is the last trading date for participation, followed by the ex-dividend and capital-repayment date on Monday, November 9.

Election window follows record date

The shareholder record date is Tuesday, November 10. Holders of ordinary N shares can elect to receive a dividend instead of the default capital repayment from Wednesday, November 11, through Wednesday, November 25. One election excludes the other option.

The choice has different tax consequences. Prosus says no Dutch dividend withholding tax will be deducted from a capital repayment, while a dividend election is generally subject to Dutch withholding tax of 15 percent, subject to applicable exemptions or treaty relief. Investors' individual tax position can affect the outcome.

Transfers of N ordinary shares between the JSE and Euronext Amsterdam will not be permitted from November 6 through November 10 because the exchanges use different ex-dividend dates.

The real-time quote of Prosus stock was 35.18 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 18:31 CET on Monday, November 2, matching the Xetra close of Monday, November 2. That compares with EUR 34.61 in the earlier report at 11:04 CET, an increase of 1.65 percent.
