Electrification offsets lower volumes
Automotive revenue was EUR 9.835 billion, broadly unchanged from the prior-year quarter and down 0.2 percent at constant exchange rates. Mobilize Financial Services provided the main growth contribution, with revenue up 11.0 percent to EUR 1.761 billion as average performing assets rose 5.0 percent to EUR 62.5 billion.
Group sales fell 6.0 percent to 497,799 vehicles in the quarter. Renault said electric vehicle sales rose 84.7 percent, lifting the electric share of passenger-car sales by 12.2 percentage points to 25.8 percent. Including hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles, electrified models accounted for 54.9 percent of passenger-car sales.
The sales mix remained a central support for revenue quality. European retail sales increased 5.0 percent, while the retail mix rose 4.6 percentage points to 64.8 percent. Renault also cited lower short-term rental and demonstration sales, down 18.0 percent, and said residual values remained 5 to 13 points above the market average.
Guidance remains unchanged
Renault confirmed its 2026 financial outlook despite what it described as a challenging environment. The group continues to target an operating margin of around 5.5 percent of revenue and automotive free cash flow of around EUR 1.0 billion. Management expects a slight margin improvement in the second half compared with the first half, although higher raw-material costs and inflation should make the usual seasonal uplift less pronounced.
For the first nine months, group revenue reached EUR 41.848 billion, an increase of 7.1 percent year on year, while vehicle sales declined 2.2 percent to 1.662 million. Renault brand sales rose 1.1 percent, Alpine sales increased 65.6 percent, and Dacia sales fell 9.7 percent during the product and powertrain transition.
