Safran.AI announced plans on October 29, 2026, to establish its first international subsidiary in Singapore. The announcement accompanied a memorandum of understanding between Safran and the Singapore Economic Development Board, or EDB, aimed at strengthening Singapore's role as a strategic hub for Safran in Southeast Asia.
The Singapore Economic Development Board said the new Safran.AI Singapore subsidiary will initially focus on artificial intelligence solutions for industrial applications. Its first Centre of Excellence will target the automation of digital inspections supporting Singapore's MRO 4.0 ambitions for Safran, its partners and customers.
AI focus targets aerospace maintenance
The planned entity will also support research and innovation by using Singapore's engineering talent and academic ecosystem. Safran.AI intends to serve customers across the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, giving the project a regional role beyond the local maintenance market.
Recruitment is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with initial positions including data scientists and AI engineers. The subsidiary is expected to grow to around 50 employees over the next five years. Safran said the Singapore operation builds on more than 45 years of presence in the country, where it employs around 900 people across five production, engineering and maintenance sites.
For investors, the initiative extends Safran's aerospace activities into software-led inspection and regional MRO support. The announcement outlines a strategic development project rather than a financial target, so its near-term contribution to sales and earnings remains tied to execution, hiring and customer adoption.
