- Saint-Gobain reported third-quarter sales of 11.6 billion euros, with all regions delivering growth.
- Construction chemicals outperformed with 6.3 percent like-for-like growth during the quarter.
- Management expects positive like-for-like sales growth in the second half and an EBITDA margin above 15 percent for 2026.
Saint-Gobain reported third-quarter sales of 11.6 billion euros on October 27, with like-for-like growth supported mainly by pricing. In the Saint-Gobain press release carried by Les Echos, the building materials group said every region grew during the quarter and confirmed its full-year profitability outlook.
Saint-Gobain stock traded at 67.86 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 11:01 CEST on Friday, October 30, 0.70 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, October 29. The comparison uses the previous Xetra session because the market had not reached the 17:35 Berlin time threshold for using the current day's close.
Prices offset softer volumes
Group like-for-like sales increased 2.5 percent in the third quarter, while prices rose 3.2 percent and volumes declined 0.7 percent. The mix shows the pressure facing construction markets: Saint-Gobain generated sales growth without relying on higher physical volumes across the group. Over the first nine months, like-for-like sales rose 1.2 percent, prices increased 1.5 percent and volumes fell 0.3 percent.
Regional performance was uneven. Asia-Pacific led with 8.0 percent like-for-like growth, including strong momentum in India and Southeast Asia. Europe grew 2.5 percent, while the Americas advanced 0.6 percent. Within the Americas, North America grew 2.0 percent, but Latin America contracted 3.0 percent.
Construction chemicals remained the strongest business area, with like-for-like sales up 6.3 percent in the quarter and 5.6 percent over nine months. Saint-Gobain attributed the broader pricing performance to value-added solutions and disciplined execution in a more inflationary environment.
Portfolio rotation remains central
The company also highlighted a year-to-date rotation of 3.3 billion euros of sales through acquisitions and disposals. The release said Saint-Gobain had completed 17 acquisitions in high-growth countries and construction chemicals, while the disposal of Dahl, a Nordic specialist distributor, was expected to close on November 2.
For investors, the figures point to a business protecting revenue and margins through pricing, product mix and portfolio changes while volume demand remains mixed. The regional split matters: strong Asia-Pacific growth and construction chemicals offset weaker conditions in parts of Europe and the Americas, but continued pricing reliance leaves the outlook sensitive to construction activity and inflation.
Saint-Gobain confirmed that it expects like-for-like sales growth in the second half of 2026 and an EBITDA margin above 15.0 percent for the full year. The company also said its price management and solutions strategy should support profitable growth, while its next scheduled investor event is a site visit in Milan on Tuesday, December 1, 2026. Full-year 2026 results are due after the Paris market close on Thursday, February 18, 2027.
