Sea Limited is weighing a public listing for its financial-services arm Monee and plans to launch an AI-first enterprise platform called Sea Cloud, according to an internal memorandum sent to employees on October 20. Founder and Chief Executive Forrest Li said a listing could give Monee the resources and room to expand faster. Entrepreneur Asia Pacific reported the plans after Reuters reviewed the memo.

Monee growth meets credit costs

Monee generated 1.4 billion US dollars of revenue in the second quarter of 2026, up 58.9 percent from a year earlier. Its consumer and small-business loan book reached 11.1 billion US dollars at the end of June, an increase of 62.5 percent year over year. Of that amount, 10 billion US dollars was held on Monee's balance sheet and 1.1 billion US dollars was off balance sheet, mainly through lending by other financial institutions on its platform.

The lending business is now the main growth engine within Monee, which also provides digital wallets, payment processing and banking services. Adjusted EBITDA rose 12.8 percent year over year to 288 million US dollars in the second quarter, slower than revenue growth. Provision for credit losses increased to 553.7 million US dollars, while sales and marketing spending rose to 293.9 million US dollars.

Entrepreneur Asia Pacific reported that Sea Chief Financial Officer Tony Hou attributed higher provisions mainly to riskier loans in Brazil and purchases made outside Shopee through SPayLater. Loans more than 90 days overdue represented 1 percent of Monee's consumer and small-business loans at the end of June, broadly unchanged from the previous quarter.

Potential listing leaves key terms open

Sea has not disclosed a valuation, offering size, listing venue or timetable for a Monee IPO. A separate listing could give investors a standalone view of the unit's payments and lending operations, while potentially providing equity capital for further expansion. It would also require investors to assess credit quality, funding needs and the cost of Monee's fast loan growth independently from Shopee and Garena.

Monee operates across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan and Brazil. The company has not said how it would structure the offering, so the possible transaction remains at an early planning stage rather than a scheduled flotation.

Sea adds an enterprise AI option

Sea Cloud would take technology developed for the group's internal operations into the enterprise market. The platform is intended to support artificial-intelligence applications for business customers, extending Sea beyond e-commerce, gaming and consumer financial services. The company has not disclosed the platform's commercial model, investment requirements, launch timetable or initial target markets.
