Shopify will report its third-quarter results before the U.S. market opens on Tuesday, November 3, putting the e-commerce software company at a fresh test after another quarter of rapid expansion. TheStreet's earnings preview said the report will show whether growth can absorb rising artificial-intelligence costs and whether the company can sustain its margin performance.

Shopify stock traded at 140.39 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 13:11 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026. The quote is a current trading indication; the forthcoming results remain the next major company-specific catalyst.

Growth raises the earnings bar

Shopify's second-quarter revenue increased 34 percent, while its free cash flow margin reached 18 percent, according to TheStreet. President Harley Finkelstein described the quarter as a strong period with growth above 30 percent in sales volume, revenue, gross profit and free cash flow. The result also leaves investors looking for another strong performance rather than a simple return to expansion.

TheStreet cited a Morgan Stanley preview that maintained an Overweight rating and a 192 U.S. dollar price target. The bank expects gross merchandise volume to increase about 33 percent in the third quarter, compared with Street expectations near 30 percent, and sees gross profit growth of 31 to 32 percent.

AI brings opportunity and cost

AI-driven traffic and orders to Shopify stores both tripled in the second quarter, the preview said. New-buyer orders grew faster than other channels, while AI-assisted testing shortened enterprise setup times from six or seven months to roughly five to five and a half months. That supports Shopify's pitch as a single platform for catalogs, inventory, checkout and orders across search, social media, marketplaces and AI agents.

The investment case also carries a cost question. Shopify's Sidekick merchant assistant increases computing expense and puts pressure on subscription margins as usage scales. Morgan Stanley expects Payments to help offset that pressure because higher merchant sales generate transaction revenue without a separate AI charge. Payments penetration reached 68 percent of gross merchandise volume in the second quarter, according to the preview.

The bank still expects operating and free cash flow margins to improve, including at least 100 basis points of annual free cash flow margin expansion. For investors, the key issue is whether additional AI activity creates enough transaction volume to protect profitability as the service expands.

Holiday guidance could move estimates

The fourth-quarter outlook may matter as much as the third-quarter figures. Morgan Stanley expects revenue growth guidance in the low-30-percent range and gross profit growth guidance in the high-20s to low-30s range, compared with Wall Street expectations of about 30 percent and 28 percent, respectively. A stronger holiday outlook could support further estimate increases, while a cautious view would put more pressure on the valuation.

TheStreet said Morgan Stanley's early Black Friday analysis points to growth near 27 percent, with new merchants and major enterprise launches offering potential upside. The bank's broader view is that a results beat combined with strong holiday guidance could extend upward revisions beyond one quarter.
