Shriram Finance reported a sharp rise in fiscal second-quarter profit, while management adopted a more cautious view on loan-book expansion. The results and outlook were discussed in the companys earnings call on October 23, 2026, in a transcript published by Investing.com.

Profit growth remains strong

Profit after tax increased 59.37 percent year over year to INR 3,677.03 crore in the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Net interest income rose 38.2 percent to INR 8,661.04 crore, while assets under management grew 16.96 percent year over year to INR 329,002.72 crore.

Disbursements climbed 25.71 percent to INR 54,079.02 crore. The net interest margin reached 9.52 percent, compared with 8.19 percent a year earlier and 9.04 percent in the preceding quarter. The cost-to-income ratio improved to 22.52 percent from 27.76 percent.

Guidance points to slower expansion

Management lowered its full-year AUM growth target to 15-17 percent from the previous 18 percent. Executives cited weak monsoon conditions and geopolitical uncertainty, while also warning that credit costs could remain temporarily elevated for one or two quarters in affected regions.

The company expects net interest margin to remain near the current level for another one or two quarters before easing toward about 9 percent in the medium term and 8.5 percent over the longer term. Management linked the expected moderation to funding costs, capital deployment and a growing share of lower-yielding new-vehicle loans.

Asset quality stays in focus

Gross Stage 3 assets stood at 4.65 percent, up from 4.57 percent a year earlier, while net Stage 3 assets improved to 2.31 percent from 2.49 percent. Credit cost on total assets rose to 2.03 percent from 1.68 percent.

Management attributed much of the pressure to seasonal effects and weaker rainfall in selected geographies rather than broad deterioration. The company also declared an interim dividend of INR 6.50 per share, with October 29, 2026 set as the record date.

Shriram Finance quarterly snapshot

  • Reporting period: Quarter ended September 30, 2026
  • Profit after tax: INR 3,677.03 crore
  • Net interest income: INR 8,661.04 crore
  • Assets under management: INR 329,002.72 crore
  • Interim dividend: INR 6.50 per share

For investors, the quarter combines strong earnings momentum with a less aggressive growth target and greater attention on credit costs. The next results should show whether seasonal stress recedes as management expects and whether margins begin to normalize.
