- Solvay reported preliminary third-quarter underlying EBITDA of 173 million euros and underlying net sales of 1.03 billion euros.
- The Middle East conflict reduced third-quarter underlying EBITDA by approximately 25 million euros, including nearly 15 million euros from the Saudi peroxide-plant shutdown.
- Full-year 2026 underlying EBITDA guidance is 720 million to 740 million euros, while complete third-quarter results are due on November 4.
Solvay's preliminary third-quarter update points to continued operational pressure from the Middle East conflict and the shutdown of a peroxide plant at the Sadara complex in Jubail, Saudi Arabia. In its October 19 press release, the company gave preliminary third-quarter figures and revised its full-year 2026 outlook.
Solvay reported underlying net sales of 1.03 billion euros, underlying EBITDA of 173 million euros and free cash flow to Solvay shareholders from continuing operations of 54 million euros. The figures remain preliminary pending completion of the quarter-end closing process.
Saudi shutdown weighs on earnings
Solvay said the ongoing Middle East conflict reduced underlying EBITDA by approximately 25 million euros in the third quarter, after an impact of about 20 million euros in the second quarter. The continued shutdown of the peroxide plant at the Sadara complex accounted for close to 15 million euros of the third-quarter effect.
Solvay operates in Jubail through a joint venture with Sadara, which is majority-owned by Saudi Aramco. The company said it is exploring available ways to limit the financial impact. The joint venture's contractual framework includes mechanisms intended to recover lost profitability, but Solvay did not include potential recovery measures or revenue from Sadara in the revised outlook for the rest of 2026.
Guidance now excludes potential recovery
Solvay now expects underlying EBITDA of 720 million to 740 million euros for 2026. Free cash flow to shareholders from continuing operations is projected at 120 million to 150 million euros, after approximately 90 million euros of transformation expenses.
The company said it remains focused on its transformation, cash generation and cost-saving targets. The revised range gives investors a new earnings reference point while leaving the timing and scale of any contractual recovery measures uncertain.
November results are the next test
Solvay will publish its complete third-quarter results on Wednesday, November 4. The release should clarify the final quarter figures and provide the next scheduled update on operating conditions at the Saudi site.
