- Third-quarter group sales rose to 1,310 million euros from 1,222 million euros a year earlier.
- Symrise retained its 2026 targets while forecasting slower fourth-quarter growth against tougher comparisons.
- The company had repurchased 4.3 million shares by the end of September.
Symrise reported stronger momentum in the third quarter on October 28, with volume-led growth across both operating segments and a reaffirmed full-year outlook. The company said in its Q3 2026 release that organic sales growth reached 5.3% in the quarter and 3.0% in the first nine months.
Group sales rose to 1,310 million euros from 1,222 million euros in the prior-year quarter. Symrise said growth was predominantly volume-driven, supported by customer demand and more favorable year-on-year comparisons. Both segments contributed, while Pet Food and Care & Wellness returned to positive organic growth.
Broad contribution across segments
Taste, Nutrition & Health generated organic sales growth of 5.2% in the quarter. Reported sales increased to 790 million euros from 736 million euros a year earlier. Food & Beverage delivered mid-single-digit organic growth, led by double-digit growth in Naturals, high-single-digit growth in Sweet and mid-single-digit growth in Savory. Beverages declined at a low-single-digit rate against a strong prior-year comparison.
Pet Food returned to growth at a low-single-digit rate, supported by higher volumes in Palatability and Pet Nutrition. Scent & Care recorded 5.6% organic sales growth, with reported sales rising to 520 million euros from 487 million euros. Consumer Fragrance, Aroma Molecules and selected Care & Wellness activities supported the segment.
Outlook remains unchanged
Symrise retained its 2026 targets for organic sales growth of 2% to 4%, an adjusted EBITDA margin of 21.5% to 22.5% and an adjusted business free cash flow margin above 14%. The company expects full-year organic growth near the midpoint of the range. It also expects fourth-quarter growth to moderate sequentially because the prior-year comparison becomes more demanding.
Management expects the adjusted EBITDA margin to land in the lower half of its range, citing continued investment in information technology, innovation and people. Chief Executive Officer Jean-Yves Parisot said the quarter reflected resilient underlying markets, customer relationships and disciplined execution. Symrise is advancing its ONE SYM Transformation program and plans to reinvest efficiency gains in innovation, commercial excellence and digital capabilities.
Buyback adds capital-allocation focus
The company said it had repurchased 4.3 million shares by the end of September under its buyback program. The program was scheduled to conclude on October 30, with the repurchased shares intended for cancellation. Symrise also highlighted portfolio actions, including the divestment of its Terpenes business, the acquisition of Floral Concept and investment in Maison Lautier 1795.
Symrise stock traded at 93.68 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 10:48 Berlin time on Friday, October 30, 2.09% above the Xetra close of Thursday, October 29. Investors are now focused on whether the volume momentum can offset the tougher comparison base and the investment-related margin pressure in the final quarter.
