- Synopsys targets fiscal 2027 revenue of USD 11.1 billion to USD 11.2 billion.
- The company is developing GPT-Synopsys with OpenAI for semiconductor design workflows.
- Management intends to repurchase approximately USD 1 billion of shares, subject to market conditions.
Synopsys stock traded at 428.50 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 12:17 CEST on Friday, October 30, 2026, 2.06 percent below the Xetra close of Thursday, October 29. The current quotation puts the focus back on the company's medium-term growth targets and its push into AI-powered engineering.
At its Investor Day on September 30, Synopsys presented fiscal 2027 targets that call for revenue of USD 11.1 billion to USD 11.2 billion for the year ending October 31, 2027. The midpoint implies approximately 15 percent growth from the fiscal 2026 base. Management also targeted GAAP earnings per diluted share of USD 8.16 to USD 8.61 and non-GAAP earnings per share of USD 19.04 to USD 19.12.
The outlook came from a presentation in New York and was published in a Synopsys investor release. The company projected a fiscal 2027 GAAP operating margin of about 20.7 percent and a non-GAAP operating margin of about 44.0 percent. Operating cash flow was targeted at approximately USD 3.6 billion, with free cash flow of approximately USD 3.1 billion.
AI and specialized silicon drive strategy
Chief Executive Sassine Ghazi said the company sees several reinforcing growth engines in AI. Synopsys expects rising demand for computing power, increasing system complexity and broader use of purpose-built silicon to expand the market for its engineering solutions.
The company is extending its silicon intellectual-property business beyond traditional standards-based offerings through application-optimized IP. Synopsys said it had secured multiple customers across compute, ASIC and AI connectivity architectures, including an IP agreement with Amazon. The company described this model as a way to participate more directly in custom-silicon programs and recurring commercial opportunities.
Synopsys also announced a preferred-partner collaboration with OpenAI to develop and deliver GPT-Synopsys, a specialized model for chip design. The planned model combines OpenAI technology with Synopsys electronic-design-automation tools and chip-design expertise. The company said customers could access its AI portfolio through the Synopsys Autopilot platform, their own AI environments or specialized engineering models.
Margins and capital allocation matter
For the longer term, Synopsys set a mid-teens annual revenue growth objective through fiscal 2030 and a fiscal 2030 non-GAAP operating-margin target of about 50 percent. Its segment objectives include at least 13 percent annual growth for design automation, at least 10 percent for simulation and analysis, and at least 17 percent for Design IP.
Management also said it intends to repurchase approximately USD 1 billion of shares over the coming months, subject to market conditions. The longer-term framework calls for returning up to 50 percent of free cash flow through repurchases after investment in the business. The targets remain forward-looking and depend on customer demand, execution of the Ansys integration and the commercial development of newer AI and IP offerings.
For investors, the key issue is whether the established electronic-design-automation business can support the projected growth while new AI and application-optimized IP offerings scale. The fiscal 2027 targets provide the next measurable reference point for that assessment.
