Fiscal 2027 Sets Higher Bar
In its September 30 Investor Day release, Synopsys set fiscal 2027 revenue guidance at USD 11.1 billion to USD 11.2 billion for the year ending October 31, 2027. The company also targeted GAAP diluted earnings per share of USD 8.16 to USD 8.61 and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share of USD 19.04 to USD 19.12.
The midpoint of the revenue range implies approximately 15 percent growth under the company's framework. Synopsys targeted a GAAP operating margin of about 20.7 percent and a non-GAAP operating margin of about 44.0 percent, alongside operating cash flow of approximately USD 3.6 billion and free cash flow of approximately USD 3.1 billion.
AI Strategy Broadens Addressable Market
Management is expanding its silicon intellectual-property business beyond traditional standards-based products through application-optimized IP. Synopsys said it has secured customers across compute, ASIC and AI-connectivity architectures, including an IP agreement with Amazon.
The company also announced a preferred-partner collaboration with OpenAI to develop GPT-Synopsys, a specialized chip-design model combining OpenAI technology with Synopsys electronic-design-automation tools and engineering expertise. Customers are expected to access the AI portfolio through Synopsys Autopilot, their own AI environments or specialized engineering models.
Capital Allocation Adds Support
Synopsys intends to repurchase approximately USD 1 billion of shares over the coming months, subject to market conditions. Its longer-term framework calls for returning up to 50 percent of free cash flow through repurchases after investment in the business.
The main investment question is whether the established electronic-design-automation business can support the planned growth while AI products, application-optimized IP and the Ansys integration scale. The company's targets are forward-looking and depend on customer demand, execution and commercial adoption.
