- Telkom Indonesia signed MoUs with BSSN and Peruri as part of the Quantum-Safe Indonesia initiative.
- The partners will explore cryptographic asset inventories, readiness assessments and staged migration tools.
- Technical implementation, commercial terms and operational responsibilities remain subject to further agreements.
Telkom Indonesia has joined Indonesia's Quantum-Safe Indonesia initiative with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN), Peruri and Danantara Indonesia. The cooperation is designed to prepare digital systems for risks that may arise as quantum computing develops.
The initiative was marked by two memorandums of understanding signed in Jakarta on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum. One MoU brings Telkom together with BSSN, while the other covers Telkom and Peruri. iNews reported the agreements on October 29.
MoUs establish exploratory framework
The agreements cover the exploration of post-quantum cryptography capabilities, security-system readiness assessments and the integration of digital-security solutions. The partners also plan to examine ways to identify and inventory cryptographic assets, assess quantum-related risks and prepare a staged migration path.
BSSN is contributing cybersecurity and cryptography frameworks, methodologies, standards and governance. Telkom is expected to support technology development and capability integration, including tools for identifying cryptographic assets and assessing organisational readiness.
Peruri brings expertise in digital trust, digital identity, cybersecurity and related cryptographic technology. Danantara is intended to help coordinate the wider ecosystem and examine potential applications in relevant state-owned enterprise projects.
Implementation still to be defined
Telkom President Director Nanang Hendarno described quantum technology as a long-term preparedness issue for Indonesia's digital ecosystem. He said the MoUs provide a strategic foundation while the parties continue to examine technical implementation.
The agreements do not yet set out final technical mechanisms, commercial models or operational responsibilities. Those details are to be discussed further and could be incorporated into definitive cooperation agreements. For investors, the announcement therefore points to a potential cybersecurity and digital-trust development area rather than a confirmed revenue contribution.
