- The upcoming quarterly release will test whether revenue growth can offset higher artificial-intelligence costs.

- Analyst forecasts point to resilient demand but weaker adjusted operating profit in the investment phase.
Tencent is heading toward its third-quarter results announcement on Wednesday, November 18, with investors weighing resilient operating demand against the cost of its artificial-intelligence build-out. A Nov. 1 report by AD HOC NEWS said analysts expect continued revenue growth, while higher artificial-intelligence investment may weigh on near-term operating profit.
Tencent stock traded at 44.61 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 09:02 CET on Monday, November 2, 2026; investors can follow the real-time quote of Tencent stock.
Revenue growth meets AI investment
Forecasts cited in the report put third-quarter revenue growth between 7 percent and 9 percent year over year. GF Securities expects revenue of RMB 209.8 billion, while UBS sees revenue growth of 7 percent. The range implies that Tencent's core businesses are still expanding, but the earnings profile is becoming more investment-intensive.
UBS estimates artificial-intelligence-related operating expenses at RMB 16 billion for the quarter and adjusted operating profit at RMB 71 billion, down 2 percent from a year earlier. GF Securities expects adjusted operating profit of RMB 70 billion, a 4 percent decline. Infrastructure depreciation, research spending and related operating costs could therefore absorb part of the benefit from higher-margin activities.
Gaming and advertising remain pivotal
Advertising is expected to remain a major growth driver. The research houses cited in the report forecast an 18 percent year-over-year increase in advertising revenue. Domestic gaming revenue is expected to rise by 12 to 13 percent, while overseas gaming revenue could decline by 3 to 6 percent as Supercell faces a high comparison base and a limited pipeline of new titles.
The estimates also frame the upcoming release as a test of Tencent's investment strategy. A weaker adjusted operating result would not by itself establish a deterioration in the underlying franchises, but it would show how quickly AI infrastructure and research costs are moving through the income statement. Investors will look for evidence of commercial traction in cloud services, enterprise software and consumer applications.
Analyst targets show a wide range
The same report said UBS raised its Tencent target price by 3.9 percent to HKD 740, while GF Securities set a fair target price of HKD 644.54. Those estimates are forward-looking and will be reassessed when Tencent publishes its own figures and management commentary.
