- Goldman Sachs reported a lower aggregate position in ThyssenKrupp, while the filing does not explain the change or establish a direct share sale.
- LBBW and DZ Bank reduced their price targets but retained Buy ratings.
- The steel division is being prepared for a possible spin-off, while hydrogen funding has become legally binding.
- ThyssenKrupp is due to publish its 2025/2026 annual report on December 8, 2026.
Goldman Sachs has reported a reduced aggregate position in ThyssenKrupp, adding a fresh ownership signal to the group's broader restructuring story. The disclosure was reported by ad-hoc-news.de on Thursday, November 5.
Goldman move adds a mixed signal
The bank's combined position fell to 4.25 percent from 5.08 percent. The filing covers voting rights held through shares and positions built through financial instruments, so the lower aggregate does not automatically represent an equivalent sale of directly held stock. It also gives no rationale for the change or assessment of ThyssenKrupp's prospects.
The ownership picture is not moving in one direction. Morgan Stanley recently reported an aggregate position of 7.96 percent, up from 7.46 percent. For investors, the contrasting filings argue against treating any single notification as a complete read-through on institutional conviction.
Analyst targets remain above current debate
LBBW cut its ThyssenKrupp price target to 18 euros from 19 euros while maintaining its Buy rating. DZ Bank had already reduced its fair value to 15 euros from 16 euros and also kept its Buy recommendation. Lower targets therefore did not translate into a change of stance at either bank.
Analyst targets remain estimates rather than promised prices. The more important question is whether ThyssenKrupp can turn its strategic options into operating progress.
Steel and hydrogen set the next tests
ThyssenKrupp is preparing its steel division for a possible spin-off after a sale was ruled out for now. That remains an option rather than a completed separation. At the same time, the funding amendment for the tkH2Steel project has become legally binding, while a new hydrogen tender is being prepared.
The flexible ramp-up is intended to reflect hydrogen availability and cost. Those factors will remain central to the economics of the project and to the credibility of the steel transition.
The next scheduled corporate checkpoint is the 2025/2026 annual report on December 8, 2026, alongside the annual press and analyst conference. The figures and management's explanation of the restructuring will provide a stronger test of the strategy than an isolated ownership filing.
