Tokio Marine HCC International and broker Adrian Flux have launched a UK home insurance policy for domestic humanoid robots, Insurance Business reported on Friday, October 30, 2026. The companies describe the product as the UK's first home cover for the technology.
New cover targets emerging risks
The policy is available through Adrian Flux's home insurance offering and is underwritten by Tokio Marine HCC International. It covers damage to and theft of a robot, sudden damage caused by the robot to a home or belongings, and personal liability if the device injures someone or damages another person's property.
The policy also provides emergency recovery or safe disablement after a sudden or unforeseen malfunction. The insurers said the cover appears to be the world's first policy protecting both the home and the robot.
Market remains at an early stage
Insurance Business said domestic robots are expected to enter UK homes from 2027. Early humanoid models in the United States are available for pre-order at around 20,000 US dollars, highlighting the potential exposure for household contents and liability policies as the devices become more expensive.
For investors, the immediate earnings effect is likely to remain limited while adoption is still nascent. The product nevertheless gives Tokio Marine HCC International an early position in a risk category that combines property damage, personal liability, software faults, cyber security and privacy concerns. The policy is expected to evolve as the technology and related claims experience develop.
