TotalEnergies reported a sharp improvement in third-quarter 2026 results on October 29, adding a confirmed earnings outcome to the preliminary margin signals covered in our previous report. The company said adjusted net income reached USD 9.1 billion and cash flow USD 12.3 billion. Its shares traded at EUR 84.02 at Lang & Schwarz at 4:33:56 p.m. Berlin time, 0.41% above the Xetra close of October 28 at EUR 83.68.
The TotalEnergies results release said the group benefited from its integrated business model, historically high refining margins and a strong natural-gas market. Adjusted net income was up 51% from the second quarter, while gearing fell below 10% at the end of September.
Refining and gas drive the quarter
The European Refining Margin Marker reached USD 33.20 per barrel in the quarter, compared with USD 13.50 in the second quarter. Hydrocarbon production rose to 2.474 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, helped by a gradual return toward normal oil production in the Middle East.
Le Monde reported that net profit attributable to shareholders reached USD 8.3 billion, compared with USD 5.4 billion in the preceding quarter. The company also confirmed a third interim dividend of EUR 0.90 per share for 2026 and authorized USD 2.5 billion of buybacks for both the fourth quarter and the first quarter of 2027.
What has changed since our last report
Earlier coverage had focused on the expected margin surge and the scheduled results date. The new release now confirms the effect at group level through earnings, cash flow and lower gearing. That improves the information available to investors, although the exceptional market backdrop remains an important condition for interpreting the quarter.
