- Third-quarter revenue growth was supported by stronger fee income and payments activity.
U.S. Bancorp's third-quarter update added two strategic developments to the bank's earnings story: a live pilot for its USBDC stablecoin and new credit cards aimed at small businesses. The company published the results and related business highlights on October 15, 2026.
Digital assets move into testing
According to U.S. Bancorp, the bank completed a live USBDC transaction between U.S. Bank entities in North America and Europe. The dollar-backed stablecoin ran on the Stellar blockchain and tested capabilities including minting, redemption, freezing, clawbacks and tokenized-asset management.
The pilot is part of a broader digital-asset strategy covering liquidity management, collateral mobility and cross-border treasury operations. Management presented the initiative as an effort to improve settlement speed and transparency while retaining existing risk and compliance controls.
New products target small businesses
U.S. Bank also launched Business Essentials and Business Essentials Plus credit cards. The products combine cash-back features with expense-management tools such as Spend Management and ExtendPay, supporting the bank's effort to deepen relationships with small-business clients.
The strategic additions accompany a strong third quarter. Net revenue reached USD 7,970 million, net income rose 10.0 percent year over year to USD 2,202 million and diluted earnings per share increased 9.8 percent to USD 1.34. Fee revenue grew 14.9 percent, while the bank's payments transformation delivered combined revenue growth of 6.5 percent.
