Unilever is moving toward a more focused home and personal care business as management presents its transformation plan at the Investor Event on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. The company is combining portfolio changes with a new operating model intended to simplify execution and support future growth.
Savings support the portfolio reset
Unilever plans to deliver productivity savings of 1 billion euros by the end of 2029. The program addresses costs left behind by the planned Foods combination with McCormick and adds savings from organizational simplification, process redesign and technology initiatives, according to Unilever.
Following the Ice Cream separation in December 2025 and the planned Foods transaction, Unilever intends to concentrate on Beauty and Wellbeing, Personal Care and Home Care. The Foods deal is expected to close by mid-2027 at the latest, subject to the required completion steps.
Growth targets remain unchanged
The medium-term framework calls for underlying sales growth of 4% to 6% a year, underlying volume growth of at least 2% and a modest improvement in underlying operating margin. Unilever expects performance in line with that framework in 2027.
The new model follows a global-strategy, local-execution principle. Markets will be grouped into six performance units led by regional presidents with full profit-and-loss accountability. The model will be introduced progressively during 2027 and is expected to become fully operational when the Foods transaction completes.
Leandro Barreto is set to become Chief Growth and Marketing Officer and Eduardo Campanella Corporate Strategy Officer from January 1, 2027. Unilever also plans to appoint an external president for North America. Reporting will eventually cover three categories and five geographic regions.
What investors should watch
The main execution tests are the delivery of the savings, the transition to the regional operating model and completion of the Foods transaction. The strategy is designed to redirect resources toward major brands, an AI-enabled demand creation model and local market execution.
