Unilever is preparing to present a more focused home and personal care strategy at its Investor Event on Wednesday, November 4, after announcing a new operating model and a productivity program. The company said in a report carried by Nasdaq that it plans to deliver 1 billion euros in savings by the end of 2029.
A sharper consumer portfolio
Following the separation of its Ice Cream business in December 2025 and the planned combination of Foods with McCormick, Unilever intends to concentrate on Beauty & Wellbeing, Personal Care and Home Care. The Foods transaction is expected to close by mid-2027 at the latest, subject to the required steps before completion.
The planned structure is designed to address costs left behind by the Foods transaction while also generating savings through organizational simplification, process redesign and technology initiatives. Unilever said the new model will progressively take shape during 2027 and will be fully operational once the Foods transaction is complete.
Growth targets remain central
Management is supporting the strategy with a medium-term financial framework that calls for underlying sales growth of 4% to 6% a year, underlying volume growth of at least 2% and modest improvement in underlying operating margin. Unilever expects to perform in line with that framework in 2027.
The company will organize markets into six performance units with regional presidents responsible for profit and loss across categories. A central strategy will be paired with local execution, while investment will focus on major brands and an AI-enabled demand creation model.
Leadership changes ahead
Several appointments will support the new structure from January 1, 2027. Leandro Barreto is set to become Chief Growth and Marketing Officer, while Eduardo Campanella is scheduled to take the role of Corporate Strategy Officer. The company will also appoint a new president for North America.
Reporting will change after the operating model is implemented. Unilever plans to report three categories - Beauty & Personal Care, Home Care and Other - across five geographic regions.
What it means for investors
The strategy gives investors a clearer view of how Unilever intends to offset the complexity created by the portfolio changes. The key execution tests are the delivery of the savings, the integration of the new regional model and the completion of the Foods transaction.
