  • Mexico digital sales and Central American comparable-store sales delivered stronger operating momentum.
  • Management reaffirmed its 2026 constant-currency sales-growth guidance.

Walmart de Mexico y Centroamerica reported weaker profitability for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, as expenses and taxes outpaced revenue growth. Morningstar said the company released the results on Tuesday, October 27.

Walmex stock traded at 2.43 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:37 CET on Friday, October 30, 2026. Compared with the 2.36-euro quote in our October 28 report, the price was 2.97 percent higher.

Profit declines as costs accelerate

Net income fell 6.1 percent year over year to MXN 11.03 billion from MXN 11.75 billion. Earnings per share decreased to MXN 0.642 from MXN 0.678, while operating profit slipped 1.8 percent to MXN 18.68 billion.

Consolidated revenue rose 3.0 percent to MXN 248.83 billion. General expenses increased 5.7 percent in reported terms and 6.3 percent in constant currency, reaching 17.4 percent of sales compared with 17.0 percent a year earlier. EBITDA edged up 0.4 percent to MXN 25.37 billion, leaving profitability sensitive to further investment spending.

Digital channels support sales momentum

Mexico comparable-store sales increased 1.7 percent, with the average ticket up 1.6 percent and customer traffic broadly unchanged. Central American comparable-store sales rose 4.8 percent as more customers and larger baskets supported the region.

Mexico digital net sales increased 16 percent, including 21 percent growth in store-fulfilled deliveries. The figures show that e-commerce and expansion remain important growth levers, but the quarter also underscored the near-term cost of pricing, technology, new stores and staffing investments.

Guidance remains unchanged

Management reaffirmed its 2026 consolidated sales-growth guidance of 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent in constant currency. It continues to expect the EBITDA margin to finish slightly below the prior year's 10.2 percent.

For investors, the key issue is whether digital growth, productivity measures and market-share gains can offset continued pressure from operating expenses and pricing investment. The confirmed outlook leaves execution and margin recovery central to the next results cycle.
