Walmex stock is balancing solid digital growth against weaker quarterly profitability. Management kept its 2026 sales outlook unchanged.

Growth Meets Margin Pressure

  • Walmex increased third-quarter revenue by 3.0% year over year, while net profit reached MXN 11.0 billion.
  • Mexico e-commerce net sales advanced 15.8%, supported by a 20.8% increase in store-fulfilled sales.
  • Management reaffirmed 2026 constant-currency sales growth guidance of 3.5% to 4.5%.

Walmex increased consolidated revenue in the third quarter, but higher investment and operating costs weighed on profitability. ESM Magazine reported on November 2 that revenue reached MXN 248.8 billion in the July-to-September period, up 3.0% year over year on a reported basis and 3.6% in constant currency.

The result was supported by both operating regions. Mexico revenue rose 3.1% to MXN 206.7 billion, while Central America grew 6.0% to MXN 42.1 billion. Same-store sales increased 1.7% in Mexico and 4.8% in Central America. In Mexico, the average ticket rose 1.6%, while customer traffic remained broadly flat.

Digital Growth Supports Retail Expansion

Digital commerce remained the clearest growth engine. Mexico e-commerce net sales advanced 15.8%, and store-fulfilled sales climbed 20.8%. The gains give Walmex additional volume beyond its traditional store network and support the retailer's effort to strengthen customer value while investing in technology and capacity.

Profitability, however, moved in the opposite direction. Gross margin held at 24.7%, but consolidated EBITDA increased only 0.4% to MXN 25.4 billion. The EBITDA margin contracted by 30 basis points to 10.2%. Quarterly net profit was MXN 11.0 billion, reflecting the pressure that comes from price investments, digital expansion and wider operating commitments.

Management said it was encouraged by the early signs but not satisfied with the breadth of the performance. The stated priority is to turn the improvement into more consistent results across the business, with execution and productivity remaining central to the next phase of the expansion.

Guidance Keeps Expansion On Track

For the first nine months of 2026, Walmex generated MXN 744.8 billion in revenue and MXN 34.7 billion in net profit. The company reaffirmed its full-year outlook for consolidated sales growth of 3.5% to 4.5% in constant currency and continued to expect the EBITDA margin to finish slightly below the prior year's level.
