- Walmex expanded digital sales while third-quarter profitability weakened.
- Management maintained its 2026 constant-currency sales-growth outlook.
- Higher spending on growth initiatives remains the key near-term margin issue.
Walmart de México y Centroamérica's third-quarter results left the retailer balancing sales expansion against higher operating costs. Reuters reported on October 27 that net profit fell 6 percent year over year to MXN 11.03 billion for the July-September period, while revenue rose 3 percent to MXN 248.83 billion.
Walmex stock traded at 2.49 euros on Lang & Schwarz at 17:42 CET on Wednesday, November 4, 2026. That compares with 2.44 euros in the latest relevant own report at 17:12 CET on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, an increase of 2.05 percent since that report. Digital Sales Counter Higher Costs
The quarterly pressure was concentrated in profitability. EBITDA increased only 0.4 percent to MXN 25.37 billion, while the EBITDA margin narrowed by 30 basis points to 10.2 percent. Operating profit fell 1.8 percent to MXN 18.68 billion as expenses rose faster than sales.
Digital commerce provided a counterweight. According to Reuters, online gross merchandise value increased 15 percent in Mexico and 23 percent in Central America. Mexico same-store sales rose almost 2 percent, helped by a 1.6 percent increase in the average ticket, while customer traffic was broadly flat.
Outlook Keeps Expansion On Track
Management reaffirmed its 2026 forecast for consolidated sales growth of 3.5 percent to 4.5 percent in constant currency. It expects the EBITDA margin to finish slightly below the prior year's level, keeping margin execution central to the investment case.
Walmex opened 42 stores during the quarter, including 39 in Mexico and three in Central America. The expansion increases the retailer's growth base but also raises the spending burden that investors will monitor in coming quarters. The company's official website lists the third-quarter 2026 results release dated October 27.

Reuters said the retailer's unchanged outlook leaves digital growth, productivity measures and margin recovery as the main operational questions for the next reporting cycle.
