WEC Energy Group lifted and narrowed its 2026 earnings outlook after reporting stronger third-quarter results on Thursday, October 29. The utility said net income attributable to common shareholders reached USD 389.3 million, while diluted earnings per share rose to USD 1.18 from USD 0.83 a year earlier.
The company now expects 2026 earnings of USD 5.60 to USD 5.64 per diluted share, compared with its previous range of USD 5.51 to USD 5.61. WEC Energy Group said the change was driven largely by favorable weather and capital investment supported by very large customers. The outlook assumes normal weather for the rest of the year.
Quarterly earnings gain momentum
Operating revenue for the quarter was USD 2.29 billion, up from USD 2.10 billion in the same period of 2025. Operating income increased to USD 563.7 million from USD 449.6 million. Residential electricity use rose 5.1 percent, while retail electricity deliveries excluding the iron ore mine and very large customers increased 3.3 percent.
For the first nine months, net income attributable to common shareholders reached USD 1.49 billion, or USD 4.54 per diluted share, compared with USD 1.24 billion and USD 3.85 per share a year earlier. Consolidated revenue for the period rose to USD 7.79 billion from USD 7.26 billion.
The company attributed the quarter's performance to warmer-than-normal weather, execution of its capital plan and operating efficiency, according to the WEC Energy Group release. For investors, the key issue is whether demand growth and continued capital spending can support the improved earnings trajectory after weather provided a meaningful near-term boost.
