- Zijin Mining completed a non-tradable transfer of repurchased A-shares into its 2026 employee stock ownership plan.
- The move gives employees exposure to the company while leaving a smaller reserve in the repurchase account.
- Investors will focus on how the plan supports retention and aligns staff incentives with long-term performance.
Zijin Mining completed a share transfer for its 2026 employee stock ownership plan on Thursday, October 29, according to a report by Futu. The company received a securities transfer registration certificate on October 29 after 72,936,800 A-shares were moved from its repurchase account into the employee plan on October 28.
Repurchased shares enter employee plan
The shares were transferred at RMB 18.56 per A-share and represented 0.27 percent of Zijin Mining's total share capital. The transaction was non-tradable, meaning the shares were placed into the employee plan rather than sold through the market.
After the transfer, 4,537,792 shares remained in the company's special securities account for repurchased stock. The announcement said those shares are intended for a talent incentive reserve pool and may be used for future employee ownership plans or equity incentive schemes covering senior managers, business leaders and core technical staff.
Incentive structure gains investor focus
For investors, the measure changes the ownership structure without representing a new capital raising. Moving repurchased shares into an employee plan can align staff incentives with longer-term operating performance, although the eventual economic effect will depend on the plan's conditions and how the remaining reserve is used.
The action follows Zijin Mining's broader expansion as a global metals producer. The company's investor website identifies its Shanghai-listed A shares under ticker 601899.SH and its Hong Kong-listed H shares under ticker 2899.HK. Its operating focus includes gold, copper and zinc.
Share price remains a separate signal
The real-time quote of Zijin Mining stock was 3.17 euros at Lang & Schwarz at 09:30:36 on Friday, October 30, 2026, Berlin time. The employee-plan transaction provides a corporate-governance signal, but it does not by itself establish the direction of the share price.
Investors will next watch disclosures on the use of the remaining incentive reserve, the conditions attached to the employee plan and the company's operating progress in its metals businesses.
