The BEL 20 was trading at 5,828 points at 14:08 CET on Friday, October 30, down 12.26 points, or 0.21 percent, from the previous close of 5,840.26. The index had opened at 5,848.63 and reached an intraday range of 5,822.30 to 5,852.64, according to the latest BEL 20 market quote.
Stock-specific moves shape trading
Market breadth was influenced by company news. Beursduivel, citing ABM Financial News, reported that AB InBev recovered 1.9 percent after Barclays and Deutsche Bank raised their price targets, although Bank of America lowered its target. Proximus rose 11 percent after the telecom company became more optimistic about its full-year outlook following its third-quarter figures.
Montea gained 0.8 percent after reporting higher third-quarter profit and announcing an expansion into Italy. The property company also confirmed its expectation for annual EPRA earnings-per-share growth of 7 percent in both 2026 and 2027.
Weakness in industrial and materials stocks
Declines elsewhere limited the index advance. Melexis and Aperam each fell 1.7 percent, while Umicore lost more than 4 percent. The mixed performance left the benchmark close to unchanged despite stronger moves in selected constituents.
The BEL 20 entered Friday's session after closing at 5,840.26 on Thursday. The latest move therefore represented consolidation rather than a confirmed change in the broader trend. Investors were also looking ahead to the US trading session, with recent technology-sector volatility remaining part of the wider market backdrop.
