The BIST 100 ended Friday's session at 11,482.60 points, rising 1.32% from Thursday's close. The Turkish benchmark recovered 149.33 points after opening at 11,237.83 points, according to Anadolu Agency.
Broad advance across key sectors
The closing gain followed a 1.26% decline on Thursday. The market's advance was led by the metal products and machinery, tourism, and information technology sectors, Reuters reported via Investing.com. The same report said advancing stocks outnumbered declining stocks across the Istanbul Stock Exchange by 426 to 183, with 30 unchanged.
Gainers outweighed decliners
Within the BIST 100, Anadolu Agency counted 73 stocks higher and 25 lower than at the previous close. Trading volume reached 135 billion Turkish liras, while the index's market value was reported at around 11.3 trillion Turkish liras.
Several large individual moves underpinned the sector-led advance. Investing.com reported that Tofas Turk Otomobil Fabrikasi gained 9.12% to 243.00 Turkish liras, Astor Enerji rose 8.17% to 161.50 Turkish liras, and Ford Otomotiv Sanayi added 7.81% to 73.15 Turkish liras. On the weaker side, Sok Marketler fell 9.88% to 48.44 Turkish liras, while Zorlu Enerji and Turkiye Sigorta also declined.
What the close means
The BIST 100's 1.32% rise marks a clear reversal from Thursday's selling session, but the move should be viewed as a single-session market development rather than a confirmed change in trend. For investors, the broad participation and sector leadership provide more context than the index move alone, while the next sessions will show whether the recovery can hold.
