- The BUX closed at 145,257.34 points on October 30, 2026, down 1.31 percent from the previous session.
- OTP, MOL and Richter declined, while Magyar Telekom rose to a record closing level.

The BUX ended the Budapest trading session on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 145,257.34 points. The benchmark lost 1,930.88 points, equivalent to 1.31 percent, compared with its previous close of 147,188.22 points. The session was already finished by the late-evening reporting window, so the figure is a closing level rather than an intraday indication.
The Budapest Stock Exchange describes the BUX as its blue-chip share index. It is calculated continuously in Hungarian forint and uses free-float-adjusted market-capitalization weighting.
International risk aversion hits Budapest
Friday's decline came amid a broader deterioration in market sentiment. Vilaggazdasag reported that disappointing results from Intel and Alphabet renewed concerns about the profitability of artificial-intelligence investment and triggered selling in technology shares. The report also cited weaker-than-expected Hungarian third-quarter GDP data as an additional negative factor for domestic risk appetite.
According to Privatbankar, an Equilor analyst attributed the weakness in leading Hungarian shares primarily to the negative international backdrop. The analyst said that no new company-specific developments materially influenced trading, although slower global sales of Richter partner AbbVie's Vraylar medicine may also have weighed on Richter.
OTP leads declines among blue chips
OTP was the weakest of the major constituents, falling 2.22 percent to 41,800 HUF. MOL declined 0.99 percent to 5,000 HUF, while Richter lost 1.15 percent to 12,950 HUF. OTP generated 16.2 billion HUF in turnover, more than two-thirds of the day's total equity turnover, according to Privatbankar.
Magyar Telekom moved against the broader trend, gaining 1.16 percent to 2,800 HUF and reaching a record closing level, according to Vilaggazdasag. Its advance was not enough to offset losses in the larger declining constituents. The BUX therefore finished the week with a clear risk-off bias, while the day's move underlined the index's sensitivity to both global technology sentiment and the performance of its heavyweight financial and energy shares.
