Solana (SOL) is the subject of a treasury increase of 5,346 SOL announced on October 26, 2026. The Solana price is 100.65 USD as of October 28, 2026, down 0.43 percent compared with the UTC daily close of October 27, 2026.
DeFi Development reaches 2.60 million SOL
According to GlobeNewswire, DeFi Development Corp. increased its treasury by 5,346 SOL, bringing its total SOL and SOL-equivalent holdings to 2,595,612 SOL on October 26, 2026. The company also said its annual dividend rate will rise from 13.00 percent to 14.00 percent effective November 2, 2026.
The update followed Solana's Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which went live on October 21, 2026. Consensus is the process validators use to agree on the next state of a blockchain. Alpenglow targets transaction finality of 150 milliseconds, compared with roughly 12.8 seconds under the previous system, according to the same GlobeNewswire report.
ETF withdrawals remain part of the October picture
U.S. spot SOL exchange-traded funds, which hold the token directly rather than through a futures contract, recorded 6.7 million USD of net outflows on October 19, 2026, according to EconoTimes. The seven funds tracked by Farside Investors had cumulative net inflows of 1.542 billion USD at that date.
The same report said the October 19 withdrawals extended the funds' outflow streak to 11 consecutive sessions. Bitwise's fund accounted for 4.9 million USD of that day's outflow, while Fidelity's fund recorded 1.8 million USD. These figures describe fund subscriptions and redemptions, not direct SOL transactions on the Solana network.
Alpenglow targets 150-millisecond finality
Galaxy Digital reported that the October 21, 2026 activation changed Solana's consensus protocol for the first time since the network launched. The first phase moves validator voting offchain, which can make blockspace previously used for vote transactions available for user transactions.
Galaxy Digital also described later Alpenglow phases as changes to leader handovers and block propagation. The report said adoption is the next test for the upgrade, while the 150-millisecond figure remains a design target rather than a price forecast.
