Ethereum price meets Rollup X milestone as upgrade testing remains delayed

Ethereum price is being watched as a new rollup test network highlights Ethereum's scaling direction. ETH also remains under pressure after a sharp decline from the previous day's quoted level.

Ethereum infrastructure and market pressure

  • Rollup X launched as a public Ethereum Economic Zone test network at Devcon in Mumbai.
  • Gnosis says the project demonstrated synchronous calls between Ethereum mainnet and a rollup without bridge messages.
  • Fortune reported ETH at 2,239.51 US dollars at 7:15 a.m. Eastern Time on November 6, down 178.03 US dollars from the previous day's quoted level.
  • The Glamsterdam upgrade remains postponed on the Hoodi testnet while developers investigate EIP-8037 interactions with mainnet smart contracts.

Ethereum's scaling roadmap gained a concrete test milestone this week, while the Ethereum price remained volatile. Rollup X, the first public test network of the Ethereum Economic Zone, launched at Devcon in Mumbai on November 4, according to Gnosis.

Rollup X tests connected execution

Gnosis said the devnet demonstrated transactions in which contracts on Ethereum and a rollup can call one another and use the result in the same transaction. One demonstration involved CoW Swap filling an order signed on Rollup X with liquidity on Ethereum mainnet before returning the tokens to the rollup. The post also described atomic Safe ownership changes across the two layers and a post-quantum signature checked on Rollup X and used to authorize a mainnet action.

The project is still experimental. Gnosis explicitly said Rollup X is not intended to hold significant value and that its core protocol is undergoing an independent security audit. The same post says Gnosis Chain is planned to become the first general-purpose zone in the Ethereum Economic Zone in spring 2027, with its contracts, balances, addresses and chain ID carried over.

Upgrade testing remains a risk point

Separately, the Glamsterdam upgrade remains postponed on the Hoodi testnet. CoinMarketCap Academy reported that developers delayed the activation to investigate how EIP-8037 could interact with smart contracts already running on mainnet. No new Hoodi activation date had been set, and the postponement does not establish a mainnet activation date or require action from ETH holders.

ETH remains exposed to large swings

Fortune reported ETH at 2,239.51 US dollars at 7:15 a.m. Eastern Time on November 6, 2026, or 13:15 in Berlin. Its comparison table showed a previous-day level of 2,417.54 US dollars and a decline of 8.28 percent. This is a dated market snapshot, not a claim about the later trading level or a verified UTC closing price.

For investors, the combination of a functioning but unaudited scaling experiment and a delayed protocol test points to two different time horizons. Rollup X offers evidence of development activity and a possible response to fragmentation, but it is not yet an economic network with established value capture. The Hoodi delay underlines that upgrades can take longer when compatibility and security questions arise. Ethereum price movements therefore continue to reflect both technology expectations and substantial market risk.
