- On October 22, 2026, developers removed the 200 million gas-limit plan from Hoodi.
- Sepolia test blocks used 26 percent to 46 percent of their available gas capacity on October 8, 2026.
- The Ethereum price stands at 2,394.38 USD as of October 24, 2026, 0.48 percent above the UTC daily close of October 23, 2026.
- U.S. spot Ether ETFs recorded 14.96 million USD in net inflows on October 21, 2026.
Ethereum (ETH) developers postponed the Glamsterdam test scheduled for October 26, 2026, removing the planned 200 million gas limit from the Hoodi testnet. The Ethereum Foundation reported on October 22, 2026, that the delay allows further investigation of how EIP-8037 interacts with mainnet smart contracts. Ethereum price is 2,394.38 USD as of October 24, 2026, up 0.48 percent compared with the UTC daily close of October 23, 2026.
Hoodi loses its 200 million gas test
The postponed Hoodi activation had been scheduled for October 26, 2026, at 17:42:48 UTC, at epoch 132,352 and slot 4,235,264. The Foundation said the revised configuration removes the Amsterdam execution-layer and Gloas consensus-layer activations as well as the planned gas-limit schedule. A gas limit sets the maximum amount of execution work permitted in a block; it does not guarantee a fixed number of transactions. The Foundation described the change as a configuration update for a future test, while Hoodi's existing chain history remains intact.
The technical issue centers on interactions between EIP-8037 and smart contracts already deployed on Ethereum. The Foundation said client teams will investigate those interactions before a revised testing schedule is announced. The update concerns the Hoodi testnet, rather than an activation on Ethereum mainnet, according to the October 22, 2026, notice.
Sepolia blocks used up to 46 percent
Ethereum's preceding Glamsterdam rehearsal on Sepolia raised the testnet processing limit to nearly 200 million gas after October 6, 2026. CoinDesk reported on October 8, 2026, that sampled blocks used 26 percent to 46 percent of the available capacity and that 99.97 percent of eligible stake supported finality during a six-minute voting period. The figures show the test environment was operating below its configured ceiling, while the postponed Hoodi run would have added another public deployment.
Spot-market access also supplied a dated flow signal. TokenPost reported that U.S. spot Ether ETFs recorded 14.96 million USD in net inflows on October 21, 2026. Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust drew 28.07 million USD, while BlackRock's ETHA recorded 29.32 million USD in outflows that day.
