- Qiagen rose 5.5 percent on a EUR 46.50 takeover offer from EQT.

The MDAX was down 487 points, or 1.6 percent, at 30,164 points at 12:08 p.m. CEST on October 22, 2026. Technology weakness after large U.S. earnings and a Saudi oil-field attack pushed Brent crude above USD 111 a barrel.
Qiagen rose 5.5 percent after EQT and partners announced a EUR 46.50-per-share takeover offer, while Sartorius gained 2.5 percent after strong quarterly results. The moves were reported by dpa-AFX via Investing.com.
Why is the MDAX down today?
Results from Tesla, Meta, IBM and SAP failed to restore confidence in technology and chip stocks, dpa-AFX reported. Asian technology markets also weakened overnight, while oil prices rose after the Saudi attack.
Brent crude topped USD 111 and gold traded below USD 4,100 in early European market commentary, according to Saxo. The combination added pressure to technology-sensitive and cyclical shares.
MDAX stock moves split sharply
Qiagen's rise followed an EQT-led offer valuing the company at EUR 46.50 per share, as Reuters via Onvista reported. Sartorius advanced after revenue grew 8.1 percent on a currency-adjusted basis in the first nine months, while its operating EBITDA margin reached 30.2 percent, according to Deutsche Boerse.
Krones fell 5.7 percent after the company reported weaker current-year and medium-term revenue expectations. Renk lost 1.5 percent after selling its bearings business and cutting its full-year forecast, dpa-AFX reported.

The index opened at 30,433 points after closing at 30,651 points on October 21, 2026. Its midday level was 487 points below the previous close and 269 points below the open.
